What Our Families Are Hearing From Our Soldiers in Iraq:
1) Heard from my daughter in TIKRIT and she sounded good, she emailed me and talked like shes just somewhere but home so I feel better the last she called she sounded down. She said it is getting cooler as everyone seems to be making that comment. The holloween ideas sound good my church was asking what they can do for the holidays thanks for the good suggestions. It will be six months for my daughter september 27th since she left , 704th DSB, out of FT. HOOD...... GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS and send them home soon!!!!!!!!
2) We received 2 e-mails from our daughter, who is in the 46th Chemical Company, 2nd Chem BN, on Saturday. After 10 days with no news, we were relieved to hear from her. She writes that they have been busy and were out on a mission this past week, then, as soon as they got back, they found out that they were to jump to a new site down the road, supporting 1/68th armor and 4th engineers. The temperatures have dropped during the day so it is much more bearable. [Regarding the packages she has been receiving] Thank you mom, you have no idea how much I appreciate your help. I would really be hurting without the things I am getting in packages from the rear! Keep sending those letters and packages - our troops need to know that we support them. Also, I would like to know more about vacuum-sealing that I've heard some of you mention. How are you doing this? Thank you.
3) Just a note I heard from my husband Echo company 204th FSB (Fort Hood ,TX ) he sounded really good just a little worn from all the missions he says they are teaching the Iraqis new medical training he says its very hard to know what he is actually getting thru to some of their people because of the language barrier but he says it is going pretty well all considered he also spoke to our son who is 8 years old a little while (mostly about school and video games their favorite topic:) ) although I hated to hear the silence when he hung up, I felt like we had spent a few quality minutes.
4) I heard from my husband who is in HHC 1-22, this morning. He has been able to call at least once a week, and it is wonderful to hear his voice. He says they are all ready to come home, but haven't heard anything new. He has basically been asking for snacks in his packages. I am sending out a package today with some shorts and boxers, he says that he doesn't have anything to just sit around in. I also went to bag and baggage and got a magnetic chess board, so he wouldn't lose any pieces. Those men and woman are doing a great job over there and we all need to continue to pray for them.
5) Yesterday (9-08-03) I got a Birthday card from my husband. He's part of the 1/10 cav 4th ID. I'm going to be 21on the 10th of this month. It broke my heart to realize he wouldn't be here for it, or our son's 1st birthday, or Thanksgiving, or Christmas. But that's what makes us, the families of soldiers, who we are. We are strong and brave and are picked out by God to endure this kind of sacrfice of our families, so others can have the same happiness. I LOVE MY FREEDOM FIGHTER, HE MEANS THE WORLD TO ME, and I miss him. Until next time, have a wonderful reunion Mr. Bob. ......P.S. what are some of the other families doing to to celebrate the holidays with there soldiers? Any ideas?
6) We heard from our son, M.P. 978 Co. Fort Bliss, Tx, stationed Balad. We had my parents on phone also with 3 way...... He was doing well but ready to come home. He said it was cooler and really bored when off duty. He called 12:30 am (TX) and was on day off - got to sleep till 9:30 am (Iraq time). He said they were getting some hot meals and would for sure be able to use the pot & pan my mother sent. They have small kitchen area now for there use. He said he ate a What-a-burger the other day. Was so good. He said it was cooler around 120 now instead of 140. (We think it is hot here) He sounded in good spirits. Keep all of our soldiers and families in your prayers.
7) My boyfriend called on Sat.(6th) and to my surprise this morning (tues.9th). It feels really good to just hear his voice. He must be feeling good because he was cracking jokes left and right. That just makes me know he is doing good. He was saying how tired he has been and that it feels good to go "home". It was weird that he said HOME because he isn't home, but Iraq has been home to him these last 5 months. But I asked him where he was and he said, "in a smelly tent with 5 or so smelly guys that haven't showered in like 2 days." I was hoping for a city but he has to be slick and say funny things. I've also been getting emails and letters but I think we can all agree that those phone calls go the extra miles. My soldier is with HHC 1-22 Scout Snipers. God bless all of our soldiers and the wonderful things they are doing for Iraq as well as the USA. keep smiling! :)
8) My husband is in B CO 1-22 in Bayji. It was so unexpected, but Friday I recieved an email from him. He is doing good and is trying to have a good time. They are training Iraqi's and he was pretty excited about meeting Donald Rumsfield. Monday, they were supposed to get their turn on the satelitte phone, but it was broken, and he doesn't know when he will be able to call again. But the emails, are wonderful!! I just pray they come home soon and stay safe!
9) Hi,my husband is from B company 1-22 in baiji. He called a couple days ago and said that they would be going to R and R camp this Sunday for four days. He has requested game boy advance and an instant camera. I guess a lot of the guys have those there. He sounded very up beat. Also said they had been very busy doing missions.
10) Bob, I would just like to say a quick thanks to the person with the info on contacting the Aggie's 12th Man Foundation to have copies of the games sent to our loved ones. I e-mailed Robyn at the organization and she emailed me right back and said that my brother's name was added to their list. Thank you very much. (Gig' EM!)
11) Once again today my Fiancee called!!! I could not believe that 2 days in a row already. Again he is with A.co 1/22. ....... He says he is trying for a 3rd day to be able to talk to me tomorrow (9-10). Lets keep praying for our soldiers cause some prayers are being answered!
