What Our Families Are Hearing From Our Soldiers in Iraq:
1) Just wanted to let you know I heard from my boy friend, he is with a-1/12, 4thID-Inf from Fort Carson CO. He called from a satellite phone and was cut off at least three times. He sounded a little down, but he seemed okay other wise. He said he would be able to go swimming today. He gave me a wish list and told me he no longer needs toiletries. I heard him laugh a couple of times on the phone and that made me feel a little bit better. I am at work today, but I do not feel sorry for myself at all. If any thing I am just glad to be here in the states. I wish every family a happy Independence Day, and today I really know the meaning of true independence. I just hope I get to spend the next one with the soldiers that made this day happen!
2) good morning.....this is the mom of a soldier mom who is near Tikrit.......he left april 2nd...I haven't heard his voice since.......until this a.m...........it was 5 a.m.. I couldnt get to the phone quick eonough...but he sounded good,,,,and he was ALIVE......I cannot tell you how much it meant to hear his voice. today is Independence Day...I hope you and your family will be safe and you can be together. Hug them all twice........the way the world is.........may not to get to again...................... i didn't even get to hug my son when he left.............so I will hug him twice as hard when he comes home. (Ed Note: No unit info given).
3) Hi, My husband is serving with the 502d Personnel Services Battalion as a Detachment Commander. It is always wonderful to hear his voice, more so for our 3 and 5 yr. old sons whose faces light up whenever I say "It's Daddy." We do get to email one another quite frequently and talk every couple of days. Last night we spoke, and he sounded as though everybody in 502d PSB is in great spirits. They are planning barbecues all over the camp today, and the soldiers are really excited about that. It is great to know that he is remaining strong, confident and that he continues to keep his soldiers' well being as his number one priority. He tells me that he "trusts God" over there, and I know that's how he continues to not only keep it together over there, but his hope and good spirits keep our family back here secure enough to not worry about him as much. I invite other family members of 502 PSB to reply to the newsletter and share some news! God bless our troops deployed all over the world today. www.502psbfrg.org
4) JUST A QUICK NOTE TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I HEARD FROM MY HUBBY (4TH ID, 3 BCT, HHC 1-8 IN) THIS 4TH OF JULY LATE NIGHT. HE SOUNDED WELL AND HAPPY THAT HE HAD GOTTEN PACKAGES FROM FAMILY AND LETTERS WITH OUR PICTURES IN IT FINALLY. HE ASKED FOR SMALL BILLS, BROWN T-SHIRTS, CANNED SOUPS AND A SMALL POT TO COOK WITH (SENT HIM A CAMPING STOVE IN AN EARLIER PACKAGE)IT WAS GREAT TO HEAR FROM HIM AND FOR A MOMENT NOT BE REMINDED OF THE TRUE DANGER THEY ARE REALLY IN. (TOWARD THE END OF THE CALL, I COULD HEAR A HELICOPTER IN THE BACKGROUND) PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR ALL THE SOLDIERS STILL DEPLOYED AS WELL AS DEEPEST THOUGHTS AND SYMPATHY TO THOSE WHO HAVE LOST LOVED ONES. OUR SUPPORT TOGETHER KEEPS THEM GOING AND MEANS JUST AS MUCH TO THEM AS THEIR CALLS MEAN TO US. PRAISE AND GOD BLESS THE U.S.A. :0)
