A-1-8 Chapter of the 4th Infantry Division

Active Unit News

This was written to observe that as we approach the 4th of July and celebrate the Independence of our country, we recognize that despite the hoopla of the returning troops from the Middle East, there are still many who are serving and dying in Iraq and Kuwait. For me, and for many, at home as for those who are serving in the Red Cross attached to the US Army, and those who are in the military still serving over there, the war is not over, and shows few signs of ‘ending’ any time soon. Please remember with me on the Fourth that -

The War Isn’t Over
(dedicated to those in the Red Cross who serve with the US military in the Iraq War, and to all who remain in Iraq and Kuwait, especially the 4th Infantry and 7th Transportation Group of the US Army)
The war has now ended
The sailors return.
But where is my daughter?
She serves in Iraq.
The war isn’t over ‘til all daughters are back.
The bells say its over,
Our Marines have come home.
And yet, where is my son?
He’s still in Kuwait
The war isn’t over while mothers still wait.
The war is now over
Connie’s crew is ashore.
But where is my husband?
His duty’s to stay
The war isn’t over while wives must still pray
The fighting’s all ended
The teacher said so.
But mommy’s not back
So why should I care?
The war isn’t over, my mommy’s still there.
The war is all finished
Politicians decree
But still many soldiers
May die far away
The war isn’t over if one has to stay.
The war is not finished
There’s work to be done
Our sons and our daughters
Still fight in Iraq
The war isn’t over until all have come back.
